What Is Die Cutting?
Die cutting is the process of using a die to shear webs of low-strength materials, such as rubber, fiber, foil, cloth, paper, corrugated fiberboard, paperboard, plastics, pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, foam and sheet metal.
Forming dies are typically made by tool and die makers and put into production after mounting into a press. The die is a metal block that is used for forming materials like sheet metal and plastic. The technician manually places the cutting die onto the material, swings the arm over the die, then the press arm lowers and presses the die through the material creating consistent and uniform shapes at a relatively low cost.
