What Is Roll Slitting?
Roll to roll slitting is done in the web form by mounting the roll to be cut on an unwind stand, threading the web over and under a series of rollers, and then attaching the ‘tag’ end of the web to a tube mounted on a rewind shaft.
Slitting is accomplished by positioning revolving score knives over the web and applying pneumatic pressure to cut the web to the desired cut width as it is pulled from the unwind stand to the rewind section.
This slitting technique provides consistent web tension and firmly wounds rolls to any width up to 84” wide. Run speeds up to 1,500 feet per minute optimizes operator time on task and ensures the lowest unit converting costs possible.
